Attorney Profiles
At Kaplan & Carlin, LLC, we are proud of every team member - lawyers and staff. Our personnel have the training and experience to provide our clients the highest quality of legal representation.
Each of our Attorneys is fully licensed to practice in all New Jersey State Courts.
What makes our firm unique is that we only hire lawyers who have previously served a clerkship with a New Jersey Superior Court Judge in the Family Court (i.e. Divorce Court). This clerkship with a Superior Court Judge affords lawyers an unparalleled opportunity to learn divorce law and related issues directly from a sitting Superior Court Judge who is deciding cases day in and day out. It is our firm's philosophy that by hiring only lawyers who have previously served a clerkship of this type, we are able to provide our clients with a unique resource.

Mr. Kaplan's interest in divorce-related legal issues had its origins in the early 1980's when he took introductory and advanced Family Law classes while a law student. In 1986-1987 he was given the opportunity to fine-tune that interest during a one year Judicial Clerkship in the New Jersey Family Court. Here he had an opportunity to obtain first hand experience working closely with a respected Family Court Judge on hundreds of cases involving divorce, custody, alimony, child support, visitation, domestic violence, and related issues.
Since 1987, he has limited his practice to divorce, custody, alimony, child support, visitation, domestic violence, and related issues, first as an attorney in the Family Law Department of a well-regarded large central New Jersey law firm (associate attorney and then partner) and since 1997, as a principal of his own Family Law firm.
In 1989, he was invited to serve on the Monmouth County Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel, a group of matrimonial lawyers who volunteer time helping other lawyers settle their matrimonial cases. He was Chairman of the Early Settlement Panel for three years between 1994 and 1997.
Mr. Kaplan is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Monmouth County Bar Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
