Separating?
So there was a guy from Marlboro who came in to see me a while ago (let's call him "David").
David recently told me that he's glad that he didn't separate from his wife until AFTER he consulted with me and we developed a sound strategy for him.
When we first met, David told me:
I can’t keep living like this.
We don’t speak, unless it’s about the kids.
The tension is constant.
The silence is worse.
And I keep asking myself: Do I move out?
Do I stay for the kids?
What happens to the money?
I don’t want to blow everything up.
And I need to make the next move from a position of being smart—not desperate."
I remember him well.
Nice guy, well dressed, great smile.
But his hand was so sweaty when I shook it that he felt a need to apologize to me (he didn't need to...happens all the time).
The thought of separating from his wife, Terry, was really upsetting David.
But the thought of staying together with Terry in an unsatisfying marriage was more upsetting to him.
And he told me that the thought of not coming home to his kids every single night after work was overwhelming him with fear.
Then there was that haunting question that's been keeping him up at night: "Where will I go?"
David was facing tough issues, and his fears were real.
I get it.
