Judges are people too. They have a difficult job, especially in divorce court. Judges must listen to the witnesses testify, view the evidence in a case, and try to figure out who is telling the truth, and what the truth really is.
Anything happening in the courtroom that distracts a judge from that difficult and important task can upset the judge.
The last thing you ever want to do is upset the person who may be deciding very important issues in your case, thereby directly affecting your life.
The following are seven things that you should keep in mind to try to avoid doing in divorce court:
1. Don’t talk while you are watching other cases pending before the Court from the pews.
2. Don’t work on a cell phone, laptop computer, or iPad while court is in session.
3. Don’t read a book, magazine, or newspaper while court is in session.
4. Do not listen to music through headphones or otherwise while in the courtroom.
5. Do not eat anything in the courtroom.
6. Do not drink anything in the courtroom.
7. When entering the courtroom when the judge is on the bench, be quiet opening the door and try to be as free from distractions as possible.
If you will follow these rules, you will stand a much better chance of not distracting the judge and thus not offending the judge who will be deciding your case.
